School Counselor

I am proud to be the School Counselor at Villas Elementary.  It is so great to be at a school where the teachers and staff care about the success of our students inside and outside of school. I have been at Villas for several years now.  I first worked as a Reading Resource Teacher in grades K-2 and have been the School Counselor since then.  I am learning more and more each day about how to best meet the needs of our students.

I received both of my degrees from the University of Northern Iowa.  My BA is in Elementary and Middle School Education and my MAE is in School Counseling.  In addition to my passion for working with children, I am also passionate about music and dance.  I am actually just one credit shy of a Dance Minor.  I earned a Reading Endorsement and an ESOL Endorsement while working for the School District of Lee County, which has greatly increased my knowledge of how to better teach and counsel the students at Villas.

My husband and I both grew up on farms in rural Iowa, and although we love it there, we moved to Florida in 2011 for the sunshine and beaches.  Stand up paddleboarding is one of my favorite activities and I tell the students it is also one of my favorite calm down strategies. We have some awesome twin boys who keep us very busy!
